Grupo de Madrinas y Padrinos is a new program which began in January 2013 as a way to empower parents to leadership and visible presence in the school community. Modeled after the strong social networks of madrinas and padrinos in the Latino community, this program embraces ‘parents helping parents as mentors’ for the good of the entire community.
Currently our core group of parents is:
• serving as mentors for new school families
• working within HASA to help families with programs and support
• helping to facilitate parent education
• serving as ambassadors for the school
The Four Pillars of Grupo de Madrinas y Padrinos are:
Community- sharing our story; inviting & welcoming others
Commitment- involvement in your child’s education and service to the school
Communication- open communication among parents and a strong parent/school partnership
Mentoring- leading by example; empowering parents through education and living our faith
